The world is also comprised of sound. Now, you too can listen to a presentation by John Kenny on the Carnyx. After that, you can listen to him play it:
…Carnyx. That should be a name for a metal band, if it’s not one already. Given the Celtic association, it’s definitely metal enough.
Finally sat down and listened to this. Really neat. So interesting to hear the Carnyx. Fascinating that it had a tongue and a palette. Spring bronze. I don’t even know how that is made.
I recall reading – probably on Wikipedia – that spring-tempered bronze was in fact a thing. It was in relation to the ancient Greeks, I think, but I don’t know what article that might have been.

Also, I recall a thread on the old forum, referring to “bronze longswords,” which referenced some of the very long Chinese bronze swords. It’s possible these would have had to have been spring tempered to function without breakage.
